Ayurvedic System of Medicine with a scientific approach.

The National Institute of Ayurveda was established on 7-2-1976 by the Government of India as an apex Institute of Ayurveda in the country to develop a high standard of teaching, training, and research in all aspects of Ayurvedic System of Medicine with a scientific approach.

There is also an Institutional Ethics Committee to govern, regulate and review various research proposals in the Institute. This is constituted on the Guidelines stipulated by ICMR in its Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research on Human Subjects. The Committee was reconstituted in June 2010.

The Institute has a 354 Bedded Hospital with OPD and a Primary Emergency Care Unit. There is a Panchakarma Unit, a Centre of Excellence for Eye Diseases, Specialty Clinics for Diabetes, Allergy, Geriatric, Dietary, Child Mental Health, etc. are also available in the Hospital for specialized consultation, treatment, etc. Various Para-Surgical Procedures like Ksharasutra, Jalokavacharana, Agnikarma, Siravedha, Dhantotpatana, Vranopachara, etc. are also conducted. There is a Satellite Clinic, a Dental Unit, a Child Mental Health Unit (Bio-Neuro Feed Lab.), a Centre of Excellence for Neurological Disorders and Musculoskeletal Diseases, a Yoga Unit, etc.

The Central Laboratory has facilities for various investigations like Hematological Tests, Urine Tests, Biochemical Tests, Serological Tests, Sonography, X-Ray, ECG, Spirometry and T M T, etc. The Institute also organizes Mobile Medical Camps in SC-ST inhabited District of Rajasthan in which regular 6-Day Camps are organized, consultation and medicines are dispensed free of cost. The Institute also organizes One-Day Camps in Jaipur and nearby areas.

The Institute is frequently visited by various foreign delegations with the intention to have collaboration in the field of education, training, research, publications, etc. As a result of such visits, MOUs have been signed with Naturafarm Gmbh of Germany for Collaboration in these areas. Another similar Collaboration has been made with School of Medicine, University Connecticut of USA.

Short Term Courses for Foreign Medical Doctors will be started soon for which the Course Curriculum is ready. Steps are being taken to invite trainees through Embassies and High Commissions at the Government of India level.

The Institute publishes a Quarterly Peer Reviewed Journal of Ayurveda (for subscription) and NIA Newsletter (for free distribution). They are widely subscribed and distributed to various Ayurvedic Colleges and organizations in the country.

Seth Surajmal Bombaywala Hospital (situated 4 km. away from the campus in the heart of the City, Kishanpole Bazar).
Satellite Clinic (situated 6 Kms away from the campus and in a very good locality of Gole Market, Jawahar Nagar).
