The Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College, Kerala's first self financing Ayurveda Medical College, was inaugurated and dedicated to the public on the 28th of August 2002, by the honourable chief minister of the state, Sri. A. K.Antony.
We have a 160 bedded hospital with a/c & non-a/c pay wards, cabins and general wards. We give free treatment to patients below the poverty line. The noon meal is given to 1000 people daily free through “Padheyam”. You can enjoy the south Indian delicious food items from the hospital canteen.
Various departments under efficient doctors conduct Out-Patient consultancy on all days from 8:30am to 1:00 pm. Major departments are – Kayachikitsa (General Medicine), Shalya Tantra (orthoapedics),Shalakya Tantra (ENT), Prasuti Tantra & Striroga (Gynecology & Obstetrics), Kaumarabhrithya (pediatrics), Agada Tantra (toxicology), surgery (by allopathic doctors), Swasthavritta + yoga.
Each department conducts special camps periodically and give free medicine to the patients in need through the Out-Patient Department. There are about 50 House Surgeons in each batch assisting the doctors in OP & IP. Rare cases are documented by H.S for future reference.
Clinical classes for academic students are from 10:30am up to 1:00 pm. Our students have access to the facility to see & study maximum number of cases in the OP, and also have the advantage of a well equipped clinical lab, X-ray and ECG units.
Students get training in emergency management, in suturing, suction, POP etc. in the allopathic section in hospital. They are also lucky to have the experience in ksharasuthra, jalukavatharam,chethana & lekhanakarma in salya unit.
PAMCH possess one of the biggest panchakarma sections. 80-100 kriyakarmas are being done every day by efficient and experienced panchakarma therapists under the guidance of excellent physicians PKHIL manufactures classical medicines and patent products, which are available in our market.
The pharmacy is open round the clock for the patients. Rare herbs are cultivated in large scale in our garden. New formulations of medicines are developed and tested by the research and development unit of PAMC.
Yoga therapy is given to the patients after consultation with the swasthawritha department. Yoga camps are also conducted during the vacation time for students to increase their academic efficiency. Physiotherapy is given to all the bedridden patients as a supportive measure for a speedy recovery.
The college is being initiated as a part of our undeterred endeavor to spread the fame of Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of healing and healthy balanced living, in the country and abroad. The college provides excellent standards in practical clinical training and research facilities, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
