Dr Jivraj Mehta Smarak Health Foundation

Dr. Jivraj Mehta Smark Health Foundation has been established to commemorate the distinguished services of Dr. Jivraj Mehta to the nation in the fields of medical education, administration, and research.

The foundation is engaged in clinical, laboratory and community field research, encompassing urban, especially urban slum and rural population of Gujarat. The emphasis for research has been to identify and investigate in depth the health problems of the community, with emphasis on cardio-respiratory and other disorders, with a view to preventing, and also to study the means and methods for their alleviation.

Dr. Jivraj Mehta Smarak Health Foundation, established this Medical Research Centre to commemorate the distinguished services of Dr. Jivraj Mehta, the first chief minister of Gujarat, in the fields of medical services. The established of the foundation has been entirely the brainchild of its founder president Shri Ratubhai Adani. It was because of his determination to bring his dream come true, and because of his undaunted efforts, that this foundation and its medical research center, could come into existence through the benevolent donations from philanthropists.

The institute was commissioned on 2and October 1989. The institute provides for the services of over 100 honorary consultants in almost all the specialties and super specialties of medicine. In addition to services of honorary consultants, the institution has a component of full-time medical officers, resident medical officers, postgraduate medical officers, full time and part specialists for all the 24 hours patient care services, including emergency services through its casualty department, manners by well-qualified casualty medical officers.

There is a fully equipped, excellent staffed, fully air-conditioned I.C.C.U with 14 beds and ICU of 6 beds, to cater to acute cardiac disorders and emergencies. We also have the most advanced laboratory services with high tech instrumentation, radiology & ultrasound investigative services of cardiology investigations eg. Computerized E.C.G & stress test, echo-Doppler investigation peripheral Doppler investigation, etc. are available. The center also has excellent facilities of most modern operation theatres, well equipped with trained staff & modern equipment.

The Ayurveda Department consists of three highly qualified doctors offering excellent treatment.
